BPS Mahila Vishwavidyalaya is pioneer in educating Rural Women in Haryana. With its base in rural community it is making deliberate efforts to bring change in the lives of women by providing appropriate environment for enhancement of their knowledge and skills. Awareness of rights, character building and personality development are the core areas that are given special attention throughout in all the professional programmes.
Master of Arts in Social Work is our premier program which is producing human resource that is able to create a society which is just and equitable and free from all forms of oppression and exploitation. Women development has been the focus area of our programme, besides other current areas like rural development, disaster management, HIV/AIDS etc. The programme is also unique in the sense that it not only imparts academic knowledge of the discipline but also compliments it with an intensive field work throughout the programme. Here it is also appropriate to mention that the department in the very first year of its establishment was selected to become Sub- Sub Recipient of Global Fund grant round 7. The Project aims to strengthen capacities of 40 department/institutes of higher learning at the State level in India in the area of HIV/AIDS.
The students are given various learning opportunities like orientation, field visits, workshops which not only give hands on experience in various areas of development sector but also develop special skills to face changes in this domain.
Our faculty rich in field and academic experience uses innovative teaching methodology to facilitate the learning process. They work as a mentor in building professional knowledge, skills and attitude. The students are also given exposure through various international student exchange programmes like video conferencing with universities in UK and USA. The department has also been chosen for Fulbright Specialist programme through United States- India Education Foundation where in the students will be benefitted academically with foreign visiting faculty.

We take their regular feedback to capacitate our students to prepare for new challenges in development sector.
